Relocation implications

While we thought  we would have to re-do our story board and our shot list, this is in fact not the case, we are just going to try and stay as close to our original idea as possible and just see how it goes.

New location

Since Michael and I have heard nothing in response from the hotels that we have asked to use as a location, not even a decline, we decided to shift the location to somewhere the polar opposite of the character we are using, dark, dirty and more like an horror film location. Mr. Cole has recently showed us a very dark and dingy boiler room underneath the school that would be perfect, it interesting lighting, a great dark atmosphere and we can use the location pretty much when we wish as it is beneath the school. Since this location has previously been used by a CSI like program run by the school it has fake blood and pizza boxes and other props that make it look like its previously been inhabited which works perfectly for us. We will upload pictures soon.

Lead Actor update

Today me and Michael found out that our lead actor decided that he no longer wanted the role that he was cast in and decided to not take part in our film opening any more, we actually found this out from someone else indirectly and were not informed by the actor himself which was of a great inconvenience.
We racked our brains upon finding out the news desperately trying to think of a new person suitable for the role and even had the input of some fellow class members and unfortunately we could not think of another adult male who would fit the role that we needed.
But we have found another student in the sixth form who does fit the role height and build wise as well as the right hair colour, and since in our film opening we are not showing the face of the character apart from a possibly a couple of shots that include an ambiguous look at parts of the face, we have cast him in the role instead now and hope that the film's realism will not be impacted by this hiccup in production.
We will be producing an actor profile soon and hope to have him finalised in the role shortly.

Poster

As me and Michael are ahead and are waiting to hear back from the location we decided to spend our time creating a poster for our film using Adobe Photoshop. We wanted to experience what it is like to try and convey genre through a simple picture and played around with a few ideas and when we finally finished we exported it as a JPEG file and have uploaded it here. We also looked at other posters from successful films such as star wars and looked at how text was implemented in to the poster in a minimalistic way and copied this. However, differently to star wars, we have included no pictures of the cast or characters and instead took an approach similar to that of the Jurassic park poster and chose to implement a logo rather than the cast. We made this decision to give the audience something to associate with the film, similar to the Jurassic park logo that everyone recognises.

Progress log

Where my group is at so far :

where I am so far on my two minute opening

So far as of today me and George still need to get a final copy of our script for the film, this shouldn't be too difficult as we do not have any real dialogue in our piece, so it will really just be outlining the plot of the opening. As well as this we are still awaiting confirmation from the two locations we have asked to use for the filming, and from there we will only need to sort out some definite filming dates.

Our main priority for the next week or so is to sort out our filming dates once we have gotten the ok from a venue.

Story board

Recently me and Michael finished drawing out and rendering our storyboard in which we have done a series of frames and what is happening at each point so we have a better idea of what our opening will look like. We initially had difficulty envisioning a certain scene in our opening and explaining it was difficult, we now however due to our story board have a clear idea of what we are both doing.
